Although produced in the Touraine AOC of the Loire, Laurent, and his wife Sonya, choose to declassify their wines as Vin de France (VdF, for short). Their grapes come from 50-70 year old parcels that are farmed organically. Low intervention winemaking is the way at Lebled's winery with carbonic maceration and whole-cluster fermentation techniques in primary use. At the time of bottling, the wines are not fined, filtered or given any additional SO2.
2022 Ça C'Est Bon!
This is a style of Gamay that's juicy, easy to drink and full of fruity goodness. There's undertones of earth but this never strays from the intense core of deliciously ripe red fruit. Some hints of liquorice and dried red flowers in the background add a fun little pop of complexity and excitement. Very food friendly and versatile.
2022 La Sauvignonne
There's certainly some skin contact here and without the steps of fining and filtering the wine, it definitely has some cloudiness and concentration of colour. This is still firmly in the white wine column, despite that. On the nose, notes of tropical fruit, sweet citrus and elderflower get right in your face. On the palate, there's some notable weight and textural heft with a concentration of citrus fruit flanked by fresh white flowers and little hints of spice. Bright, inviting acidity highlights the high-toned finish.
2022 On Est Su L'Sable
A Cabernet Franc full of life and layered. Crunchy blackberry fruit and lightly herbal notes on the nose. On the palate, you're met with tart and underripe raspberry, slightly underripe blackberry and a wild herb concoction. Scrumptious!
