Loire, France

Although produced in the Touraine AOC of the Loire, Laurent and his wife Sonya choose to declassify this Sauvignon Blanc as a Vin de France (VdF, for short). The grapes for this bottling come from 50-70 year old parcels that are farmed organically. Low intervention winemaking is the way at Lebled's winery with carbonic maceration and whole-cluster fermentation techniques in primary use. At the time of bottling, the wine is not fined, filtered or given any additional SO2.

There's certainly some skin contact here and without the steps of fining and filtering the wine, it definitely has some cloudiness and concentration of colour. This is still firmly in the white wine column, despite that. On the nose, notes of tropical fruit, sweet citrus and elderflower get right in your face. On the palate, there's some notable weight and textural heft with a concentration of citrus fruit flanked by fresh white flowers and little hints of spice. Bright, inviting acidity highlights the high-toned finish.

There's a lot of classic pairings for Sauvignon Blanc so feel free to explore the wide range of foods and cuisines that can be enjoyed with this. We'll highlight sushi and goat cheese as easy all-time classics.
